1. INTRODUCTION – FAKE NEWS
Hello and Welcome to this month’s GEMINI NEWSLETTER – and true to the versatile character of this sign, we shall jump around and cover a great variety of subjects! Yet they are all connected – enjoy the treasure trail!
Let’s take our first theme. We are living in a world period where FAKE NEWS dominates. From TV news and media presentations, politics, economics, YouTube & Twitter, to pharmaceutical companies, health and religion. What is real? What is authentic? And what is a distortion and false?
It is a journalist’s professional duty to make any given event, fact or number sound more important than it is. Just recall the last 2 years of Covid and the numbers presented every day on the TV, or the total underplay of the Russian media when commenting on the “military operation” with Ukraine.
I recently read a book by a Swedish author, Hans Rosling, “Factfulness”, who has made it his lifelong mission to fight devasting global ignorance, to change people’s way of thinking, to calm their irrational fears and redirect their energies into constructive activities. The book explores why so many people, from members of the public to very smart, highly educated experts score worse than chimpanzees on 10 fact questions about the world.
There are many super insights throughout the book, but let’s take just one of the mega misconceptions about the world – “The World is Getting Worse”. People in 30 countries were asked this question and the big picture was crystal clear. The majority of people think the world is getting worse. No wonder we all feel so stressed. The author shows that this negativity instinct, the tendency to notice the bad more than the good, is why our brains are wired to see the negative because we live in a fear producing society. When consumers are unhappy they buy more products. Yet it turns out that the world, for all its imperfections, is in a much better state than we might think. But when we worry about everything all the time instead of embracing a world view based on facts, we can lose our ability to focus on the things that threaten us most.
As I will explore throughout this month’s Gemini Newsletter, we must become more CONSCIOUS of our CHOICES. We must learn better how to DISCRIMINATE. This is the theme before us to pay attention to this month, this year, throughout our life!
None of us have enough mental capacity to consume all the information out there. The question is, what part are we processing and how did it get selected? The kind of information we seem most likely to process is information that sounds dramatic. The media can’t waste time on information that won’t pass our attention filters. So we end up paying attention to information that fits our dramatic instincts and ignoring information that does not.

For the first time in world history, data exists for almost every aspect of global development, and yet because of our dramatic instincts and the way the media must tap into grabbing our attention, we continue to have an overdramatic worldview. It is this fear instinct that strongly influences what information gets selected by news producers and presented to us consumers. This overdramatic worldview in people’s heads creates a constant sense of crises & stress.
The urgent “now or never” feelings it creates lead to stress or apathy. Or it’s all hopeless and there is nothing we can do attitude. Either way, we stop thinking, give in to our instincts and make bad decisions.
It's relaxing to think that knowledge has no sell-by date. That once you have learned something, it stays fresh forever and you never have to learn it again. But even the most basic knowledge goes off very quickly. As with milk or vegetables, you have to keep getting it fresh – because everything changes. We need to stay open to new data and be prepared to keep freshening up your knowledge. Many Swedes think
of the USA as having very conservative values. But look at how quickly attitudes to homosexuality have changed. In 1996 a minority of 27% supported same sex marriage. Today that number is 72% and rising.
There are so many good examples in Hans Rosling’s book, published in 2018, that even Bill Gates gave a review: “One of the most important books I’ve ever read – an indispensable guide to thinking clearly about the world.” And ex-USA President, Barack Obama added: “A hopeful book about the potential for human progress when we work off facts rather than our inherent biases.”
Gemini embodies thus the principle of selection or discrimination. We must choose the right ideas upon which the soul of Man will develop & grow. We must understand that each sign represents only one twelfth of the totality of Man’s being. Gemini has a wide range of friendships, network contacts, talents, interests and ideas. The ultimate aim should be to try to find a central point wherein all these multifarious facets of his/her being can coalesce into a unified whole. There is a world of difference between a highly evolved Gemini and a scattered and nervous one.
The great classic composer, Richard Wagner was a child of the Twins. He was able to hear each of the separate instruments of an orchestra and combine them into the many moods of his symphonies and operas. He remained at the center of his being and was able to modulate the various musical components surrounding and underlining his themes.
The key to Gemini’s success, therefore, lies in their ability to play each of the instruments of his/her personality and still remain the conductor of the symphony of their life.

The Summer Solstice horoscope – Sun’s entry into Cancer
The longest Day of Light on our planet is the Summer Solstice celebrations as the Sun on it’s journey through the Zodiac enters the sign Cancer. This is an astronomical and astrological event, for there are more hours of light at this time of the year than at any other date – and just this fact makes it worthy of our attention.
This year the event takes place on Tuesday morning 21st. June. The horoscope is set for Copenhagen, yet as this is a world event, wherever you live can be equally valid to set up a horoscope with a different ASCendant and planets in different Houses – but the essential point is the transit Sun entering Cancer.
In Scandinavia, the 3 countries of Denmark, Sweden & Norway will be celebrating this important event with lots of social activities, dance and bonfires. In the Celtic civilization of the past, that stretched all over Europe and the UK, the Arthurian legends tell us that this was the date when the Knights & their Ladies gathered together at the Court of King Arthur & Queen Quinevere to honour and celebrate this great event. It was also the date of the magical appearance of the Holy Grail, a shape
shifting object linking different worlds. This was followed in Christianity by the event of Pentecost, the descent of the Holy Ghost upon the disciples of the Master Jesus.

The SUMMER SOLSTICE horoscope defines the Summer Quarter, and since ancient times the planetary positions on this chart would be used to assist astrologers looking at the future prospects of the next 3-month period.
The Moon has just entered war-like Aries and forms a dynamic square (90-degree) to the home-loving Cancerian Sun, while simultaneously a conjunction to Jupiter, planet of internationalism and faith. And both the Moon & Jupiter form a flowing sextile (60-degrees) aspect to an elevated Mercury, positioned within its own sign of Gemini, high up on the Midheaven angle.
One obvious interpretation for these placements is the on-going war between Russia and Ukraine has displaced millions of people from their homes, and not only the 6 million refugees from Ukraine scattered around the world but the mass exodus of the intelligentsia from Russia itself.
The basic issue with the Cancer Sun and Aries Moon is the clash between the elements of water & fire, which stimulates the overwhelming need to establish emotional security.
Yet as the fiery Moon-Jupiter contact also includes Mercury at the Midheaven, we can expect a lot of high profile prominent publicity that takes central stage. We can already see this happening with Finland and Sweden making their application to join NATO and end their many years of neutrality. These decisions that revolve around the basic theme of emotional security will affect both nations and individuals. The boundary lines of the home or nation are being worked upon during this Summer Quarter. But the home is also our foundation and the foundation of our personality, what we can trust & depend upon, is being challenged and redefined.
As you will read in this Newsletter, there is a long period when transit Mars enters the sign of Gemini and remains in this sign from the end of August right through to March 2023. This will mean that when it reaches Mercury on this Summer Solstice chart, early September 2022 it will activate and release much of the potential stored up in these planetary positions and sparks will fly! It remains hovering around this Mercury degree right through to January 2023, so we need to be with courage and demonstrate our democratic rights to be heard. I anticipate a lot more vocal action will be heard in these months. In the USA the new emerging anti-abortion laws will occupy the attention of many, both for and against and the Sun-Moon square on the Summer Solstice chart will intensify the various public campaigns.
Yet overall there is much dynamic flow in this horoscope and that is the good news! To remind you, here is the spiritual Motto for the sign Cancer:
“I build a lighted House and therein dwell.”

Gemini in the Sky
When you look at the constellation of Gemini in the starry heavens, two great stars, which bear the name of The Twins – Castor & Pollux – dominate the view.
Castor, befitting the nature of Gemini, is really two very closely placed white stars which revolve around each other. This phenomenon is called a “binary system” by astronomers, as the two stars seem to revolve around a common center of gravity. These stars lie only 4-degrees from each other and were long known as the sole representatives of the entire
constellation. In time the brothers grew and many more stars were added to complete their portraiture. The Twins are usually depicted as bound together by each other’s arms and are most conspicuous in the April sky.
Pollux is somewhat brighter than his brother and is orange or reddish in colour.
In the esoteric motto given for Gemini we read that, “….in the waning of that self, I grow and glow”.
This reveals the relationship between the personality & the Soul. The individual – “I recognize my other Self….” – knows himself to be the Soul. And as the personality releases its hold upon the life energies, the Soul is able to relate to the lower self and the material world with greater direction and clarity. The lower self then becomes the disciplined extension of the Higher, creating whatever adjustments may be needed to bring forth the Soul’s presence.
Venus as Esoteric or Soul Ruler of Gemini
On the esoteric level of interpretation, Gemini with its focus upon relationship and relatedness, vibrates with the 2nd. Ray of Love-Wisdom. When the everyday Mercurial mind becomes sensitive to the soul vibration in increasingly strength, then a new level of rulership of a sign takes place. Venus is the planet that is the esoteric ruler of Gemini.
It is said that the other Twin to Venus is our planet Earth and that our karma & destiny is intimately intertwined. This is because Venus seeks to unite & blend, merge & harmonize all of the dualities of life. Venus takes the conflicts of duality (as indicated by Mercury), and transforms them into a higher octave of expression. She does this through the creative expression of the mind. Venus then balances and harmonizes these movements and brings into the life the quality of Grace.
Gemini reveals the relationship between any pair of opposites & holds the answer to ending the tyranny of our binary thinking dominance.
One of the most fundamental and important of all earthly polarities is the one which exists between male & female. When these two are brought into harmonious union through the positive influence of Venus, the human race advances. One doesn’t have to be an esoteric astrologer to know this – yet the functioning of Venus to unite, is geared to the very purposes of creative procreation. This is the case whether the resulting creation is a child, a work of art, a political idea, or whatever else the Spirit may move. EROS himself is but Mercury imbued by the spirit of Venus!
Affirmation

When you study the Tarot Key 6: The Lovers (Crowley’s Thoth Tarot deck), which corresponds to the zodiacal sign Gemini, one of the first and obvious realizations you get is that everything on this card is about duality - the male & female figures, dressed as prince & princess, being blessed in their marriage by the outstretched hands of an angelic presence, looked upon by the images of Adam & Eve in the top left & right corners, the white & black children, the red lion and the white eagle – everything shown is about the alchemical marriage.
Here is the next observation and insight – there is no hierarchy shown, no one is up and the other down, they are presented as equals. If true love is to be experienced then it is through equality that we show respect for each other. When equality is present there flows open communication, which is another definition for love. So with equality and respect, there is openness and that leads to trust. These are all the hallmarks of Love.

So it should not come as any surprise to learn that in Esoteric Astrology it is through the constellation of Gemini that LOVE flows into our Solar System. Gemini we are told, is one of the most important of the 12 zodiac signs and it’s influence is behind everyone of them.
The occult teaching describes this as the 2nd. Ray of Love Wisdom pouring through Gemini. Love underlies the entire Universe and part of this mystery connected to Gemini is the fact that with the appearance of this third sign we see the first indications of a second figure, “me-&-you”, the Twins. Opposites remain always there from the point of view of our human reasoning, but when the intuition is functioning (head & heart working together) the 12 signs become the 6 polarities joined together. This gives the achievement of “the freedom of the two”.
When we are able to raise our energy frequencies above and beyond self-denial and resistance, we are then able to relate the various polarities in our life to each other, yet transcend the illusion of separation or duality, typified by our binary way of thinking.
The mystery of this sign is concerned with the quality of response which should and eventually will exist between the two Brothers, between the two poles, between the soul and form, and between the limited personality and the infinite and immortal Self or Soul.
You will also see that MOVEMENT is an essential quality to Gemini, not only due to the Element of AIR that it represents, but because LIFE IS MOVEMENT.
As the psychologist Assagioli once put it to one of his students: “I hope you do not reach any stable state. A stable state is death!”

Number Revelations on TAROT Key 6: The Lovers
The realization of what in the past was called the GREAT WORK is the marriage of opposites. GEMINI is the third sign in the Zodiac and governed by the planet MERCURY. The FATHER energy of Aries, the first sign of the zodiac combines with the MOTHER energy of Taurus, the second sign, to produce their CHILD, Gemini.
The creative nature of the TRIANGLE is a universal teaching. The Law of Polarity is the basis of our earthly lives. Unity gives rise to duality which eventually permits multiplicity and complexity. Opposites attract and result in the creation of a third new factor. This “Holy Trinity” is therefore:
1. A creator
2. The action of creation
3. The thing created.
Now let’s consider the link with the zodiac sign Gemini and the Tarot Key 6: The Lovers which it is identified with. First let’s add up the first 6 numbers of Tarot Keys:
1 + 2 + 3 + 4 + 5 + 6 = 21
(Tarot Key 1: The Magician; Key 2: Priestess; Key 3: The Empress; Key 4: The Emperor; Key 5: The Hierophant and Key 6: The Lovers).
Key 21: The Universe is the final card in the 22 Major Arcana or Trumps sequence, and represents the completion of the 22 Keys to Self-Mastery.
Now let’s apply this triangle teaching and do some simple calculations. .
(1). Keys 1 + 2 + 3 = Key 6: The Lovers
(2). Keys 4 + 5 + 6 = 15 or 1 + 5 = 6
(3). Keys 7 + 8 + 9 = 24 or 2 + 4 = 6
(4). Keys 10 + 11 + 12 = 33 or 3 + 3 = 6
(5). Keys 13 + 14 + 15 = 42 or 4 + 2 = 6
(6). Keys 16 + 17 + 18 = 51 or 5 + 1 = 6
(7). Keys 19 + 20 + 21 = 60 or 6
This is very revealing don’t you think? Gemini and the Tarot Key 6: The Lovers forms the foundation of everything – what a magnificent thought!

We can see that the Law of the Triangle is supreme in Tarot & Alchemical transformation. Through these observations we can see that Key 6 provides us with the realization of The GREAT WORK through the Marriage of Opposites, the Law of Triangles. Another image would be the two interlaced Triangles representing the descending Macrocosm & the ascending microcosm, forming the 6-pointed Star of integration.
The number 6 has some unique properties and has always been regarded as a “perfect” number vibration, the number of the Cosmos itself.
- This is also why the number 6 contains the mystery of the 12 zodiacal signs, each perfectly balanced with its polar opposite sign.
- The number 6 divides the zodiac circle of 360 degrees by 6 times i.e. 6 x 60 = 360 degrees.
- Six is also the representation of the 6 dimensions of all manifested things, as 4 lines make their form (North-South-East-West) is added with the two lines of Height & Thickness that answer to Above & Below.
- Ancient astronomers adopted the cosmic interval in terms of the number 6: The 60 SECONDS of a minute, the 60 MINUTES of one hour and the 60 HOURS for the Moon to move through one zodiacal sign. The time cycle measured by the number 6 unlocks the secrets of Creation. All this is not just some strange coincidence.
- Diameter of the SUN: 864,000 miles (12 x 12 x 600)
- Diameter of the MOON: 2160 miles (6 x 6 x 60)
- Diameter of the EARTH: 7920 miles (12 x 600)
- Speed of EARTH around the SUN: 66,600 miles per hour
- Distance between EARTH & MOON: 6 x 60 x 660 or 60 x Earth’s radius.
The beauty in this cosmic geometry is obvious. Let’s recall the marriage ceremony being shown to us in Key 6: The Lovers of the Tarot What is this marriage?
FATHER: essential MALE energy – THE PROVIDER
MOTHER: essential FEMALE energy – THE NURTURER
CHILD- a combination of the two – THE EXPLORER/EXPERIMENTER
Nature makes sure that we experience this trinity.
Now, the purpose of marriage is to become the father/mother/child within ourselves.
FATHER energy: is focussed on the GOAL
MOTHER energy: is focussed on the PROCESS
CHILD energy: is focussed on the NOW
And you need all 3 energies
The Sun-Moon Midpoint: The Inner Marriage
The relationship between the Sun (masculine) and the Moon (feminine) is so vital to our work as astrologers – and to everyone else on planet Earth! We can say that we exist through the Sun and we live through the Moon. The Sun is the fuel and the Moon is form & function. This Sun-Moon blend does not correlate with vocation, success, nationality or religion, or anything, but BEING. We are looking at the central light of life energy and its distribution.
And so astrologer’s can plot your Sun-Moon midpoint on your birth chart, which is a mathematical point, midway between the Sun and the Moon on the horoscope. It is a highly sensitive and personal point, showing our desire for companionship, our INNER MARRIAGE. This is where our inner masculine & feminine, our left & right brain hemispheres can potentially join in creative union. It is that point in the chart where we can relate to the world “wholeheartedly”, with “body & soul”, “heart & mind”.
So the first stage is to find out where the Sun-Moon midpoint is located in Sign and House on our birth horoscope – and next we explore if any planet is connected via aspect to this highly sensitive point, as that planetary archetype is going to be intimately involved in our journey towards wholeness.
For example, pop Queen MADONNA, with her Leo Sun & Virgo Moon has her midpoint exactly on her natal Pluto in Virgo. Just look at her work and lifestyle, including her employment of Catholic imagery in her earlier career and you will easily recognize her breaking of taboos, a typical Plutonian signature. Then there is her relationship history which illustrates Pluto’s love-hate intensity.
Not that I wish to associate Madonna with Germany’s ADOLF HITLER, but his Sun Moon midpoint in Pisces was in exact square (90-degrees) with Pluto, plus a square- &-a half aspect to Uranus and also a dynamic contact to Neptune, so all 3 transpersonal planets activated his Sun-Moon midpoint. His marriage, so called, on the last day of his life to Eva Brunn, with bombs dropping down all over his Berlin bunker, is an accurate illustration of Pluto’s activity.

A good positive example of Sun-Moon midpoint with Pluto & Neptune would be the Italian psychologist ROBERTO ASSAGIOLI. His height & depth psychology, linking personality & soul is called “PsychoSynthesis” and has helped revolutionize modern psychology.
ALICE BAILEY, a Sun-sign Gemini, who took down the teachings of the discarnate Tibetan Master DK in the start of the 20th. Century, had Neptune exactly conjunct her Sun-Moon midpoint and this clearly showed itself in her telepathic contact to the invisible dimensions throughout her long life of service. It will not be surprising to see that as we move to the psychic and spiritual realms we repeatedly find Neptune involved with this Sun-Moon midpoint.
ELISABETH KUBLER-ROSS, the pioneer in the Death with Dignity movement, also has Neptune aspecting her Sun-Moon midpoint and her inspiring and compassionate work for the dying is a very clear expression of these planetary principles. Then there is the greatest authority on modern deep sea diving and a pioneer of underwater photography, JACQUES COUSTEAU, a Sun-sign Gemini, with both Neptune & Mercury aspecting his Sun-Moon midpoint. His entire life centred around the sea (Neptune: Lord of the Oceans), also his wife and two sons who regularly dived with him, so that his outer and inner marriage was equally centred upon Neptune. In my own case the Sun-Moon midpoint in Virgo is conjunct my wife’s Sun and we recently celebrated our 22nd. Marriage Anniversary.
Of course I could present all the planets and many examples from famous people how they contacted their Sun-Moon midpoint, but that would become another book. For this Newsletter I am pointing your attention in this direction for your future study. Next time you get an astrological reading, enquire about your Sun-Moon midpoint, any planets in aspect to it at birth, and any transits or progressions connected to it now or the near future.
Fascinating research don’t you think? That is why you will never meet a retired astrologer, one simply doesn’t retire from such a journey!
Yet I will finish with a specific example because this leads me into the next section of this Newsletter.
The Kenneth Arnold UFO Sighting – June 1947
On June 24th. 1947, the famous Kenneth Arnold UFO sighting took place when this pilot saw 9 of them flying around Mount Rainer, USA. This is when he coined them “FLYING SAUCERS”, a term which has persisted for nearly 80 years.
On the horoscope which is reproduced on the next page, the Sun-Moon midpoint falls right upon the highest point in the sky, the Leo Midheaven or MC, which is exactly where the planet Pluto is also located. The fact that there is a Scorpio ASCendant makes this placement very potent indeed.
The afternoon skies over Mount Rainer in the state of Washington on that June date was a memorable event. Kenneth Arnold, a businessman and also employed by the US Forest Service, was flying his private plane. Suddenly, out of nowhere, he sees 9 disk shaped objects flying at more than 1200 miles per hour. They weave in and out of formation. Arnold observes them at about 10,000 feet for several minutes until they vanish.
When the media asked him to clarify the object’s appearance, Arnold suggested that “they flew like a saucer would if you skipped it across the waters.” Thus was the modern myth of “flying saucers” born that day.

Those of you who have read my article “The Search for a New Planetary Myth”, where I place much significance on the planet CHIRON, The Wounded Healer archetype, will understand the links to Chiron’s presence exactly conjunct the Scorpio ASCendant.
This shape-shifting planet, discovered 1st. November 1977 entered into our world view 30 years later after this Kenneth Arnold sighting. It was found between the orbits of Saturn (reality, limits, time, the past) and Uranus (the unknown & invisible realms, future, science-fiction, high technology & revolution). In the months after Chiron’s appearance on our world stage, there was the blockbuster films, “Stars Wars” and “Close Encounters of the Third Kind”, exciting the public’s imagination again about space travel and the UFO phenomena.
You will also note on this chart that Uranus is positioned at 22½-degrees Gemini. Not perhaps special at first sight but then look at the discovery chart for Uranus from March 1781 – you will see that the same Scorpio ASCendant rises and Uranus is placed at 24-degrees Gemini.
There are connections between these two horoscopes. Uranus has an 84-year cycle (7 x 12) and this was the 2nd. Uranus Return taking place at the time of the Arnold UFO sighting. Transit Uranus spends 7 years in each sign so it was in Gemini during the period 1942-1949.
If we add a third 84-year cycle to the original discovery date of 1781 we get 2033 when Uranus returns to its discovery degree at 24 Gemini. The evidence before us as we approach the next Uranus Return is nothing less than an explosion of new discoveries around the relationship and communications with ET’s or other space peoples. Unusual (Uranus) communications (Gemini)? Yes indeed!

defence Minister some years ago made the public announcement that there were at least 5 space races on our planet with various agendas and the government of Chile is the only nation that has publicly validated the existence of UFOs and Space peoples. When will the major governments of this planet release the truth about their secret collaboration?
Well, no coincidence that as I write this section of my Newsletter the news from America is that for the first time ever, Congress has been openly debating the UFO phenomena here in May 2022 and has set up a new public department to investigate what they are calling not UFOs, but “Unidentified Ariel Phenomena”.
Note that this is the first serious attempt from government levels to address the ever increasing public sightings of UFOs and now you are not labelled as a “weirdo”, so the stigma has been removed. I see this as the government’s attempt’s to prepare
the public for the next series of powerful revelations or information shocks. When that takes place the history of this planet will be totally rewritten. When the ice continues to melt at Antarctica and the polar regions of this planet, gradually revealing ancient architectural structures long since buried since the Ice Age, what will archeology have to say about these pre-Flood civilizations? Once again, we are moving into a huge area for exploration yet the one thought to be held clearly in mind for this month’s Newsletter is the Gemini theme of Communication and especially communication between brothers & sisters. We are after all, planetary citizens now and have entered into a Space Community with other space peoples, our brothers & sisters.
The Uranus Return is obviously a major kick-start to new technologies – but what can we expect with transitUranus entering Gemini 3 years from now in 2025? And then it remains 7 years in Gemini. Revelation after revelation! Expect the unexpected!
The planet Uranus is identified with the Tarot Fool, Key 0, numbered Zero, nothing or “no-thing” because it is the most powerful of all the 78 cards, indeed, because all the cards which then follow do emanate from The Fool. It is the orgin and destiny of all the other Tarot cards. Here we see a very obvious statement about the nature of Spirit. When you name something or develop a concept about something, it splits away from the total unity, that is why the Fool card is no-thing and the only unnumbered card in the Tarot deck. The modern equivalent of this reveals itself when we play card games with our modern playing cards, the Jester, the Joker or Fool card can be “wild”, which means it can be anything you want it to be. This is the Tarot tradition of THE FOOL filtering down into our modern world.
So looking at the combination of THE FOOL (URANUS) with THE LOVERS (GEMINI) we can gain an intuitive idea of the uncharted landscape before us in the years to come. And true to the nature of THE FOOL, we must take risks and have no fear.
The Fool in Latin becomes “follis” which means windbag. We know from our birth & death that life enters our body with the first breath and life leaves our body with our last breath. Life is a Fool’s Journey. Every breath of life is an expression of our wholeness, which is symbolized by the universal life principles of the 22 cards of the Major Arcana. The Fool, as the Spirit, or Holy Breath, represents the full circle of these major life forces.

Maurits C. Escher, Dutch graphic artist, who died in 1972, used his remarkable skill as wood engraver and lithographer more to tease than to please the eye. Inspired by mathematics, experimenting with perspective, he never called himself an artist but preferred to see his work as scientific research or simply as a game. This may be the reason why he gained millions of admirers, also outside of the official world of art.
His Leo ASCendant, with the Sun in Gemini is the main astrological indicators of his drawing skills.
M.C. Escher’s graphic illustrations are greatly influenced by his Gemini stellium, 5 planets, including Sun & Moon in the sign of the Twins, especially the characteristic Sun conjunct Neptune, the Master of Illusion.
Mercury, at 11-degrees Gemini rules the logical mind, & is conjunct the Underworld God Pluto at 14½ degrees and both opposing his Saturn at almost 8-degrees Sagittarius. Here we see the Master of Paradoxes and a quite complex aspect pattern involving his thinking processes.
Gemini Doodles
My wife during a long telephone conversation makes interesting doodles, drawing on whatever paper is in front of her. Do you doodle? Sometimes some interesting shapes and ideas emerge from us just allowing the pen to just glide where it wants to go.
Now here is a specific challenge to all my readers.
I have often done this on some of my workshops to expand intuitional sensitivity. Just take the initial letter of your first name and the initial of your second name – then play with them so you combine both in such a way that it visually feels right and secondly, the image before your eyes really does convey qualities or energies that you can resonate with. Does the form you draw give an impression of what you contain deep inwardly?
For example, here is my version. The two letters: (D)erek (S)eagrief
If I place the “D” on it’s side and the “S” emerging from this now upside down bowl shape, what reveals itself is a flame from a container, a burning lamp or the image of the Keeper of the Sacred Flame.
Does this mean anything to me? WOW - You can be sure it does!
Now you play with the two letters of your name and come up with your own symbolic signature.
I have dozens of examples that you would love to see, but now it is your turn to doodle and create!
Pentecost – The Holy Spirit – the month of Gemini
Have you ever wondered why in our Christian religion we celebrate Whitsun holidays (White-Sun holy-days or Pinse in Danish) during this month of Gemini? The Master JC was crucified & Resurrected and then Ascended. In those last days before making his final ASCent into the higher spiritual dimensions, the 12 disciples were given final instructions to take the Living Word of Christ to the four corners of the planet. In the marvellous Biblical engraving by Gustav Dore, we see the descent of the Holy Spirit, shown as a white dove, coming down upon the disciples, enabling them to all speak with different “tongues of fire”, thus equipping them to go forth and do their missionary work. It is a marvellous picture – and worth your meditating upon.
“When the day of Pentecost had come, they were all together in one place. And suddenly from heaven there came a sound like the rush of a violent wind, and it filled the entire house where they were sitting. Divided tongues of fire appeared among them and a tongue rested on each of them. All of them were filled with the Holy Spirit and began to speak other languages as the spirit gave them ability.”

This is an extraordinary account - but let me make a quite different reference to another dimension of the sign Gemini. It governs what is known in science as the axial rotation of our planet. We may never think about it, but our Earth keeps on turning and turning, upon its own axis – yet it is through these means that we receive the Sun’s light and heat over the entire planetary surface. Without this phenomena, our planet would have been destroyed, if only one part was to receive and the other part not receive the life-giving energies of the Sun.
But there is more to this idea of axial rotation governed by the Gemini principle, as the light of the Sun, and therefore revelation or increased light, is to be full-rounded, not one-sided. We see the same principle applied in Gemini’s multi-faceted being, the ability to relate to all people at any level. Yet we also can recognize the all-important theme of DISTRIBUTION OF ENERGY with the sign GEMINI. After Pentecost the Holy Spirit became available to the Christian community.
It was taken as a sign of God’s continuing presence in the world after the death of the Master Jesus. The inception of the Holy Spirit also conferred spiritual gifts such as healing and prophecy, through which God’s work might continue through the Christian congregation. In many ways the Holy Spirit is a purely Christian conception. However, although the term “Holy Spirit” may belong to the Christian tradition, the nature of the experience, or one which may be described in very similar terms, may indeed belong to the universal community of spiritual pilgrims.
This central Christian experience has much in common with accounts of the risen kundalini. Although the rising of kundalini and the descent of the Holy Spirit may seem at first to have nothing in common, yet the commonality remains worth pursuing. The Holy Spirit is always depicted as entering through descent, whereas kundalini is always depicted as entering through ascent.
Kundalini is represented by the serpent, which in the Western mind has become the most maligned of all creatures since its part in the first fall from a state of grace in the idyllic Garden of Eden. The Holy Spirit is invariably symbolized by a white dove. This gentle image conveys a softness of contact which is not always matched in mystical literature.
The experience of western mystics reveals the same kind of turbulence as that documented by eastern mystics. And, for the sharp eyes, you will note that Gemini’s planetary ruler, Mercury has an associated symbol, the Caduceus – has 2 intertwined snakes circling around a central staff, with two feathers or two wings emanating from the top of the staff.

Thus, in Mercury’s associated symbol, do we find both the dove & the serpent image or iconography. It is worthwhile to meditate on the meaning of these two quite different symbols.
Let me return to the symbolism contained in Key 6 The Lovers. Remember, the Tarot is a Universal picture Book and it takes time to allow these archetypal images to penetrate our consciousness. I need to add a new reference to your understanding of this Tarot card.
The Hebrew name for this Tarot card, The Lovers, is Zain, meaning “sword”. The sword has long been used in mythology to symbolise both knowledge & power, as well as the agony & ecstasy of romantic love. A sword has two edges, illustrating life’s many possibilities, sides & consequences. By figuring out how and when to use the Sword, you gain the knowledge of the kind of life you wish to cut out for yourself. The sword is the tool responsible for the transformation of ideas and imaginings into plans, actions and subsequently, finished products.
Discrimination, the act of Choice, choosing, is part of the archetype of the Lovers card. It is the power to make fine distinctions between things in order to reach viable decisions. When you are unable to pick up this essential tool, decisions seem to get made for you that are often less desirable than those you might have chosen for yourself. By picking up the Sword of Discrimination, you define your needs, set limits, choose what you want to keep & nurture, and eliminate what is not viable. If you feel uncomfortable with the concept of the Sword, you might consider its cousin, the pocket knife, scalpel and scissors as alternatives. The Sword enables you to move forward, instead of being trapped in fearful indecision, despite this, the Western world tends to regard it as an instrument of destruction and conquest.
On the other hand, in eastern religions, the deities of transformation wield the Sword to serve truth.
And yet, there are references to this in the west. Perhaps you may recall the statement in the Bible where it says – Christ will return with the Sword of Truth/Spirit in his hand. Proper use of this essential & powerful tool helps you to take greater charge of yourself and your environment, a definite step on the road back to Eden.
Trump V1 is indeed one of the most complex and intricate cards of the Major arcana because it portrays sexuality and human love with all of its contradictions simultaneously with the alchemy of the universe.

Mars in Gemini: late August thru to late March 2023
The previous time transit MARS turned retrograde or backwards movement, as seen from our Earth’s perspective was back in 2020 in its own sign of Aries. In this year we have transit Mars entering the sign GEMINI on the 20th. August, reaching 25½-degrees then turning retrograde from 1st. November and remaining in this backwards motion right through until it turns direct again at 8-degrees of The Twins, 18th. January at the start of the New Year. By the 26th. March 2023 it enters the next sign of Cancer.
So that means MARS will be activating the sign and qualities of GEMINI for no less than 217 days or 31 weeks!
Will we be very positive and assertive in our communications & writings to each other? Or nervous, restless, irritable, sarcastic, angry and verbally violent with each other? Will we show an increased curiosity about life and learning from each other? Or dig our heels in, so our ego is the dominant factor and resist true authentic dialogue?
Gemini governs the area of communication and that includes the experience of siblings, that social laboratory of learning about our position in the family hierarchy, the development of language and understanding about gender during our childhood days. What developments could take place in our brother-sister relationship during this period? Time will show.
The Science of the Hands
Gemini also governs the Hands, and the body-mind coordination - so what could this stimulation of Mars in this sign mean in this regard? Mars is muscle power so increased summer sport activity such as tennis, badminton, golf, surfing & board paddling? Yes, of course - if we only look at the physical.
It is common knowledge that the touch of a loved hand can convey comfort or minimise pain. We are aware of the infinite skills to which hands can be trained – skills exemplified by the surgeon as he restores a human body, or a stage magician as he amazes an audience by producing various objects from space, or causes other objects to disappear into it! Also well known is the part hands play in producing works of art, or in making things of unity. All of this is common knowledge and experience.
What is not so well known, and which is seldom realised, is that the hands are pregnant with spiritual potential – that they both contain and convey energies which the majority of us are completely unaware.
We are challenged to learn the use of the hands in service. From an occult perspective, the use of the hands is the utilisation of the chakras in the palms of the hands in:
1. Healing bodily ills.
2. Blessing and thus curing emotional ills.
3. Raised in prayer, or the use of the centres of the hands during meditation in the manipulation of mental matter and currents.
I don’t have to remind you that this area is a vast science and in India we have the teachings of the mudras or hand movements to convey a specific type of energy, or in ancient Egypt the same life philosophy, or in my part of the world, Scandinavia we see the magical runes and the duplication of this in body postures and dance. This is what is meant by Eternal Wisdom Teachings, they are Universal and not the property of one tribe of humanity.
I am pointing your attention to these pathways because of the obvious great interest to learn new skills that the Mars-in-Gemini period will represent for us all. What new learning awaits you this year?
Every action should have a specific purpose and significance. All should be organized – every gesture should have it’s symbolic significance in alignment with the purpose of dance. This is the meaning of “Sacred Dance”, as we learn to dance with intention. We are in fact, praying through bodily movement. It should also be noted that it is not the movement – but what we believe of the movement that gives it power.

The hands are one of the means whereby we can distribute energy and express intention.
Hand in upright position (palms raised) is a gesture of receptivity.
Palm downward indicates more of an activating energy flow – pure force.
The esoteric teachings state very clearly that the future science of energy distribution will combine the Science of THE HANDS with the Science of THE EYES.
In last month’s Taurus Newsletter we focussed upon the Eye, so in this month’s Gemini Newsletter we continue this energy movement with the Hands. It has always been taught that the human eyes both receive and pour out energy, and this can enhance the words spoken, the look that is directed, and the gesture of the hands
to convey the healing or teaching which is given.
Great speakers and teachers demonstrate these qualities through their public presentations.
The energy of an integrated personality is focussed through the 6th. Chakra, the Brow or Ajna Center, between the eyes. And when we can identify ourselves with this vibration, then we are able to work with the power of direction, using the eyes & the hands as directing agencies. Energy follows Thought and the Eye opened by Thought, Directs that energy, as the Hands then distribute this in the environment.
The personality only “thinks” in repeated automatic patterns, whereas true thought, new creative thinking is fresh and done by the higher part of us, the soul. Observe how your thoughts come to you – out of the 1000 thoughts everyday only 1 will be impersonal and the other 999 personal. As one great teacher put it, “The whole illusion of life is based on the personalization of our understanding.”
Our Master within has taken the role to get us into impersonal living. When we start living impersonally then 80% of the world’s illusion is lost and we can then see beyond the outer form. We see the world according to how our brain circuitry operates. Meet the person – not the personality. Agreeability or non-agreeability is just a personal viewpoint. That which you dislike has been created by the energy of the One Creator.
Fear for most of us, is a constant companion, whether one is aware of it or not, it is there, hidden in some dark recess of one’s mind – and therefore real freedom is freedom in the mind. But our minds have been conditioned and contaminated by the culture of fear. We keep busy with our neuroses in order to prevent us from contacting our True Self. We avoid knowing because knowing invites action. Action (Mars) liberates, so now we can start to enjoy the 31 weeks of transit Mars in the sign of Gemini!
One of Freud’s great discoveries was that the greatest cause of much psychological illness is the fear of knowledge of oneself – of one’s emotions, impulses, memories and potential – one’s destiny. We evade and deny our best sides in this struggle against our own greatness. That is a choice – and we can also choose to rewrite our life’s script.
